A Book Review – Young Detective

As a kid I was naturally curious and loved mystery novels. Books like Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys were my favourite. I used stay late in the night when I am reading trying to find out what happens in the end.

I recently read “Young Detective” by Sumita Bose. It a collection of mystery stories, word and number puzzles for kids and I have to say that I was quite impressed. The stories were engaging, suspenseful, and entertaining. The writing style was easy to read and understand, making it perfect for young readers who wants to solve a mystery of their own.

The stories had a good mix of mystery which will keep the readers on their toes. I found the books to be entertaining and educational at the same time, as the kids were able to learn a lot about detective work and problem-solving skills. One of the strengths of the book is the way it encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The reader needs to solve the mystery themselves using clues and evidence presented in the story. This can be a great way to challenge and engage young minds. I personally believe that this book will help develop lateral thinking in young readers.

Each story is written in simple language which reader has to solve based on the clues in the story. The stories are concise and interesting. The writing style is easy and engaging, creating a suspense atmosphere for the reader. I desperately wanted more stories at the end of the book.

I do have to admit that I found difficult to solve some of the stories but managed to solve all of the mystery words. (Hurray for me !!)

Overall, I think “Young Detective” by Sumita Bose is a great choice for kids above 9+ years who are interested in solving mysteries. The book is exciting and super fun to solve.
